Acute Inpatient Rehabilitation facilities are specialized hospital-level care facilities that provide various services and therapies with a goal of regaining function after a serious health event such as a stroke, brain injury or spinal cord injury or serious illness. Using an interdisciplinary approach, patients can expect medical management from primary care physicians, physical medicine and rehabilitation physicians, and specialists as well as round the clock nursing care and intensive therapies such as physical, occupational, and speech therapies. Social workers and case managers work with these teams to develop a plan of care and goals for discharge.
